Thanks to Montgomery Village official Peggy Marks, GFAA may have access to 2 new gallery spaces in the Village! The first is the public wall in the Montgomery Village offices on Apple Ridge Road. The second is the meeting room at North Creek Community Center. All paintings exhibited must be for sale. We are thinking that we could have 2 month long rotating shows that members can sign up for. Wed like to hear any views or suggestions you have. More information to come. Member RUTH LOTZ has been piling up the accolades recently. She won an award at the very competitive Baltimore Watercolor Society show at Strathmore Mansion, and her painting, Near Dusk sold. Ruth was interviewed by the National Eye Institute at NIH for a video presentation on outstanding individuals who happen to have macular degeneration. She will be having a show there in October more details as we get them! At the December holiday dinner, innovative programs co-chair MARIANNE KOST distributed 11x14 mats from Plaza Arts to the attendees with an assignment: Do a painting of Gaithersburg or a nearby area. The painting must fit the 8x10 opening of the mat, and we hope to build a themed group show of paintings - all using the same mat. Members who want another mat can get them from Marianne at Plazas deeply discounted price of $6 each. NOTE: The paint-out June 4 would be an ideal time for painters to do this! |
